LRC's Code of Conduct and policies

LRC's Code of Conduct expresses our values, connects our policies and articulates our expected standards of behaviour.  The Code of Conduct joins all our policies, aims and ideals together.

LRC's policies are designed to help all of us enjoy our rowing, make the most of our time at the club, ensure that everyone is considered, that we look after each other and our fleet, so they cover safety, boat allocation, competition and more.

Code of conduct
LRC was formed in 1886 as a competition rowing club welcoming members from all sections of the community. Today, in conjunction with our valued relationship with Pymble Ladies College and continuing community participation, we honour the proud history and traditions of the club as we strive to achieve our goals of excellence in competition and representation.

1. Our values:
1.1 Integrity – We act with integrity in our dealings with others and treat each other fairly.

1.2 Cooperation – We work together by embracing good sporting conduct and teamwork.

1.3 Respect – We treat each other, as well as our club and fleet, with honour and respect.

1.4 Pride – We cherish our club and its history and reputation, and are worthy custodians of its future.

2. Our expectations:
2.1 How we welcome and treat our members
We are a community club that welcomes competitive and social rowers, encourages their development and helps them find opportunities to contribute. For more information see our Information for members
brochure.

2.2 How we treat each other
We show each other courtesy and respect. We provide a friendly and safe club environment, and harassment, discrimination and bullying are not tolerated. For more information see our Appropriate Behaviour policy.

2.3 How we manage the club
We are a club of volunteers. We all volunteer our time to help with the running and welfare of the club using our particular abilities and skills. An elected committee of members takes responsibility for managing and administering key functions but we rely on the support and generosity of all our members to achieve our goals.

2.4 How we use our fleet and clubhouse
We use our resources with respect and care to ensure that we operate in a way that sustains our present and our future. For more information see our Boat usage policy, Boat storage policy and Safety and care policy.

2.5 How we compete
We enable opportunities to compete as rowers that are commensurate with our abilities and resources. As competitors we exhibit good sporting behaviour, show courtesy to other rowers, and maintain the high regard in which LRC is held. For more information see our Competition policy, and our Policy on Race Protests.

2.6 How we train
We value training and coaching opportunities that enable us to develop as rowers. We support our coaches who act in the best interests of their squads and our club.

3. Our consequences:
As members of LRC we agree to comply with and support LRC’s Code of Conduct. Breaches will be resolved through LRC’s Grievance handling policy.
