The Corporate Rowing Challenge is back for 2007

Each year the Leichhardt Corporate Challenge grows from strength to strength. 2006 saw a strong number of 22 entries from 12 organisations. The Regatta Finals were held again on the Olympic course, at the Sydney International Regatta Centre. Corporate Rowing continues to grow in popularity.

While Leichhardt Rowing Club promotes this event each year as a means to funding our successful Youth Development rowing program, we focus on the benefits of this program to our customers – the corporate participants.

LRC Corporate Regatta 2007 – another great success

Crews from 14 companies went from perfecting the caterpillar look to looking like winning eights in just a few short weeks, and sported their ‘winners are grinners’ wins in style at the 2007 LRC Corporate Regatta.

Fourteen companies entered these crews: Abigroup Hat Trick, Clutzing at Oars, DHL - Team DEScovery, Hicksons Hotties, Huntsmen, MS Mighty Strokes, MS Bounth, Poseidon III, Pymble 1st XV, St Hilliers Saints, Tressox 8, TIDC Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation, TIDC Pasha Bulker, TIDC Rainbow Warrior, U-Go-BOS and Westpac Half Coxed.

Although all participants were winners on the day, some crews took home trophies: newcomer Morgan Stanley held everyone at bay to take the coveted LRC Cup.

Industry winners were: Clayton Utz (Legal), St Hilliers (Construction), Morgan Stanley (Finance). DHL was the General winner, holding off a determined effort by Pymble who failed to take advantage of the slight handicap given to DHL (what’s 24 seconds over 500m?).

Many thanks go to all the willing, and able helpers who coached, drove tinnies, fed, marshalled, acted as boat race officials and generally performed minor miracles to pull off another prize-winning corporate regatta.

And if proof is needed that the crews enjoyed the rowing experience, here are some comments:

Thank you also for being a great coach, you struck the perfect balance of teaching us and letting us have some fun.

I really enjoyed the experience …

Will miss the lovely starts to my Saturday mornings out on the water …

It was hard work sometimes (i.e. getting out of bed on a Saturday morning) but heaps of fun in the end and it felt like a great achievement.

I would never in a million years have thought of doing rowing before and really enjoyed the experience.

Here are some the photos of the regatta .
