LRC annual report for 2008–09

RTA work on Iron Cove – take care near the exclusion zones
The two arches closest to the Rozelle shore are closed to all vessels, and buoys are set to lead water craft around the blocked arches, see sketch for stage 1.
Watch for stray buoys – there is one in the middle of the bay, away from the exclusion zone.
Tinny drivers note: the speed inside the exclusion zone, which stretches some distance each side of the bridge, is 4 knots:
  • maintain speed at no more than 4 knots within 100 metres of floating plant or work in progress (maximum penalty $1500 – clause 19(6) Management of Waters and Waterside Lands Regulation) and
  • keep vessel wash a minimum (maximum penalty $5500 – clause 9(2) Marine Safety (General) Regulation 2009).
Waterways emphasise that they will book any power boat travelling faster than this and the fines are significant.
