Not everyone wants to compete in races. Many people just want to row for health and fitness. If this is you then we may cater for your interests.
If you have not rowed before or only have limited experience, then you will need to complete a Learn To Row course before you can join the Social Rowing group. This is a diverse group that rows every Sunday morning at 6.45 am. We match age and ability in crews from the group each Sunday and row in eights. Each crew is supervised by an experienced club rower who provides coaching. Crews are usually off the water by 9 am and gather for coffee and breakfast.
Boat allocation is subject to these social rowers satisfying the Club Captain of their rowing competence (as do all club members), and understanding of the Waterways rules of safety and navigation.
The membership cost for social rowers is $600 per year.
New 'Associate Non-Competing' (or social) members will also have to pay a once only joining fee of $200 unless the applicant has graduated from one of the club's Learn to Row or Corporate rowing programs when the joining fee will be waived.
